An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale struck South-West China on May 21th at 2:18pm. The epicenter was located in Si Chuan province, where thousands of homes, offices and government buildings have been destroyed, leading to many people being trapped under rubble. The disastrous effects have been felt throughout China's South-Westernly provinces, with the death count rising to over 18,000 at the time of writing. This is truly one of the great tragedies of the 21st Century. Aside fro m the catastrophic number of deaths associated with this natural disaster, hundreds-of-thousands find themselves seriously injured, homeless or havi ng had their entire livelihood destroyed.
